In a stunning astronomical event that mesmerized skywatchers and scientists alike, International Space has released a dramatic image capturing the ethereal beauty of the “Strawberry Moon” looming above the Indonesian archipelago. Shot from the International Space Station at the peak of its lunar rise, the image showcases a radiant pink moon casting a soft, rosy hue over the curvature of the Earth—an awe-inspiring view made even more cinematic by the towering cloud formations swirling over Southeast Asia.

International space astronomer Dr. Richard Spencer described the event as “a powerful reminder of the poetic connection between Earth’s dynamic atmosphere and the celestial rhythms above.” She further noted the rare clarity of the image, made possible by stable weather conditions over Indonesia’s skies and the precise orbital position of the space station.
The term “Strawberry Moon” refers not to the moon’s color, but to the traditional name given to the full moon in June by Native American tribes, marking the start of strawberry harvest season. However, atmospheric scattering during moonrise can give the lunar surface a dramatic pink or crimson appearance—especially when viewed near the horizon.
Indonesia’s Sky Watcher has confirmed that the Strawberry Moon will remain visible until early morning on June 11, with ideal viewing conditions in regions such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, and parts of Sulawesi.
